Beginning Years (2004-2005)

Though Liquid Fire didn't officially start playing by fall in 2004, by the end of grade 9, in April, Eirik, Erik, and Morten got an inspiration to start a band. None of them had played in a band before, nor taken any music lessons, but they figured out what instrument they were most talented in. They decided that Erik was going to be the vocal, Eirik the guitar, and Morten the bass. They figured they wanted 2 guitars in their band, as it would define their sound the best, so they recruited Alex Andfossen, a former downhill skiier, and a fine guitarist, who at the moment activly skiied with Erik. Mathias Nielsen, a classmate of them, joined them soon after as a drummer, as he had experience with the instrument from before.

Yet their instruments didn't arrive untill their fall vacation in grade 10, it didn't stop them recording their first cd soon after. In a school project, they were assigned to do some sort of art where it would be published to a school gathering later the week. The theme was contrasts, so they decided that they were going to call their cd "Love, Hate" where they recorded two cover songs from the Beatles, "Yesterday" and "All you Need is Love". They made 40 cds, and they sold out within the evening. Jørgen Mathias Nipen was one of the buyers of the cd and coincidentally joined their band 4 months later.

Band recruitments

Mathias Nipen, a former pianist, joined Liquid Fire early in January 2005. Though he had played piano all his life, he had never come across, let alone played, a drumset in his entire life. Though Liquid Fire only had two practices with him, they played their first concert together 22nd January. They played two simple cover songs, "Seven Nation Army" - White Stripes, and "Don't Stay" - Linkin Park.

Later that year after Alex left the band, they felt they needed a replacement, but they decided a keyboard player was more important than a new guitarist, so they searched for a new member that would play the keyboard. Even though a few members with experience with piano had aquisited to play for Liquid Fire, they hired Per Olav Lundamo as he had more determination and more will to sacrifice time for the band. Since he started, the band was able to play cover songs that had keyboards in it, and they were also able to play their own songs, as none of their composed songs did without keyboards and strings.

Thomas Walle Hansen, who played the guitar since grade 8, was asked to join in the early year of 2007, a few months before Liquid Fire were going to record their new demo. A new guitarist allowed them to have much more guitar variation, and more guitar influenced compositions. A big problem that Mathias usually had was that his compositions usually involved more than one guitar.

2006

Early in 2006, Liquid Fire recorded their first EP, consisting of "My Last Goodbye", "Dawn", and "Sick and Tired". They were done by spring, and it helped them to play for the opening of Bekkestua Arena 1. September, where they warmed up for successful bands and rappers, such as Torch, Erik og Kriss, Karpe Diem and Gatas Parliament. Over a 1000 people showed up, and this has been their biggest concert yet.

2007

During their winter vacation, they started to record another demo that was to consist of another 8 songs. They started with "Home", "My Depression", and "Mysterious Girl". During this recording the band received a full sponsor of 15 000 kr (1 900 Euros) by the newspaper businnes Aftenposten to record those three songs. It follwed quickly by their acustic song "No More" which has only piano and vocals. Morten Finsberg sang the accompanied vocal. This was to make the song more filled and varied. Currently they are working on two more songs: "Trapped" and "Sailed Ship".

Liquid Fire has not only appeared in newspapers such as Aftenposten and Asker og Bærum Budstikka, but recently appeared in a school Newspaper "Presens", where a school student intervied Erik Staxrud about their band. He encouraged people that did not belong to a music association can still do well. He especially condemned bands that got a lot of unneccessary publicity just for being apart of an association called Tanken. At the time, Liquid Fire was getting over 800 plays a day, which was more than any band being a part of Tanken.

2008

2008 marked a significant change in Liquid Fire's history. Their first feat was when they advanced to the state championships in UKM in March. Playing with over 50 bands, they opened the entire concert with their heartshaking song "Last Breath", and was noted by it in the local newspaper few days later.

Trapped

After graduating in May/June, Liquid Fire went straight into making their first 11-track album, which ended up being called "Trapped". It contains both previously recorded songs such as "The Mysterious Girl" and "My Depression", but also 5 new recorded songs, not listened by the public untill their release. It was released 29th October, and sold in several small music stores and also larger ones such as Platekompaniet in Sandvika Storsenter. it has currently sold 500 albums after the first month.
